Office of the President
The Republic of Ghana
Your Excellency,
RE: RESPONSE TO INVITATION TO THE 27TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS OF HIS MAJESTY THE ASANTEHENE
It is with great honour and appreciation that I acknowledge receipt of the invitation from the Office of the
President of the Republic of Ghana to participate in the celebrations marking the 27th Anniversary of the
Accession to the Golden Stool of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, including the Gala Dinner in honour of this
distinguished occasion.
I wish to convey my sincere gratitude to His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana and the
Government of Ghana for this gracious invitation and for the continued commitment demonstrated toward the
recognition and strengthening of traditional leadership, as well as for Ghana’s broader role in promoting African
unity, cooperation, and development through the elevation of cultural and traditional institutions.
It is with sincere regret that I must inform Your Excellency that urgent obligations within my office have
necessitated a revision of my travel arrangements at very short notice, and I am therefore unable to attend the
celebrations in person.
This decision has not been taken lightly, given the importance of the occasion and the high esteem in which I
hold both the Government of Ghana and the Ashanti Kingdom. I remain deeply appreciative of Ghana’s
consistent leadership in advancing initiatives that promote continental solidarity and empower traditional
authorities as key stakeholders in Africa’s governance and development architecture.
In light of my inability to attend, I have designated a Special Envoy to represent me at the celebrations and to
convey my greetings, respect, and best wishes to the organisers and participants on my behalf.
Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.
Prince Estifanos Matewos
